So-named because many of the streets bear the surnames of former U.S. presidents, this neighborhood is located in the "mid-west" area of Novato. It's an established area with sidewalks, mature trees and rolling hills. The location has the best of both worlds: convenience and serenity. It has easy access to downtown, it's close to the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center with Costco and Target, and yet it's far enough removed from those commercial areas that the neighborhood is quiet, tidy and solid.
Many of the 700 or so homes are Ranch-style, built in the 1950s. These homes now sell in the mid-$400,000s to high $500,000s. This neighborhood also has 2-story homes built in the mid-1970s, as well as higher-end, custom homes located in the hills of the Presidents neighborhood. Large, hillside homes can sell for more than $1 million.
The neighborhood has a cute, reburished park, called Arroyo Avichi, which is popular for its water feature. Novato High School is also located in the Presidents neighborhood.
Neighborhood schools for Presidents: Lynwood Elementary, Hill Middle School, Novato High (always check with district before buying a home)
Also located within Presidents is Rancho Elementary School. It has among the very highest test scores in Marin County. Admission is lottery-based, and you don't have to live in the neighborhood to attend.
